Functional Capacity Assessments
A Functional Capacity Assessment (FCA) is a comprehensive occupational therapy assessment that evaluates how a person's disability impacts their ability to complete everyday activities and participate in home, work, education and community life.
Our occupational therapists take the time to understand your strengths, challenges and goals before completing a detailed assessment and report. We provide evidence-based recommendations that help support informed decision-making and future planning.
Our Functional Capacity Assessments may include:
A comprehensive interview and assessment
Functional observations
Review of relevant medical and allied health information
Assessment of daily living skills and independence
Identification of strengths and support needs
Recommendations for therapy, supports and services
Assistive technology recommendations (where appropriate)
Home modification recommendations (where appropriate)
A detailed, goal-focused report
Our reports are tailored to your individual circumstances and can support NDIS planning, plan reviews and applications for reasonable and necessary supports.
Fees for FCAs
The cost of a Functional Capacity Assessment varies depending on the complexity of your needs and the amount of assessment, report writing and liaison required.
A typical FCA includes:
Initial consultation and planning
Comprehensive assessment
Functional observations
Review of relevant documentation
Report writing
Recommendations and goal setting
Liaison with your support team where required
Most assessments are completed within 10–20 hours, depending on the complexity of the assessment and reporting requirements.
If you're funded through the NDIS, services are generally billed in line with the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements.

Typically an FCA will cost: $ 2,000 to $3,000.
